Check the reverses of you 2000-P dollars, before selling them!!! Or turning them into the bank!!! Remember the Cheerios dollar!!! For those of you who don't know what this is, it is the same sacajewea dollars, but, it has HIGH details on the tail feathers, I mean high detail... LOOK Here is a comparison These coins are worth roughly around $5,000
I look at every 2000 P that comes across my desk. So far in the past 3 years of searching & spending I've looked at 2302 2000 Ps. This doesnt count the other years and D minted coins either. so far i have struck out finding any Cheerios dollars, but I did find one wounded eagle coin
OK - what is a wounded eagle? BTW - I can barely see the difference except maybe the stem feathers of the two middle tail feathers. Ruben
Reuben, it is the high relief of the middle tail feather. Notice all of the veins in the feather with superb detail on the top picture. I have searched for this one too with no luck.
i dont want to get off the topic here but the wounded eagle is a nickname for a variety for die gouges that looks like a spear going thru the eagle. here is some links that gives some pics. It is also in the latest Cherrypickers book on page 365 http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot.asp?auction=2530&lot=2580&imagetype=j2 http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-P-Sacagawea-golden-dollar-Wounded-Eagle-error-rare_W0QQitemZ260370590438QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item260370590438&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 here is a pic of the coin i actually found but sold it - it got a MS63 grade from ANACS and the guy i sold it had it reslabed at PCGS and it got a MS63 also.
