    Hi.
I want to search my memorial cents and wonder which ones I should hold onto or look for.

This will be a low budget collection. I was thinking of keeping all pre 1983 and the 83D, 84D, 86 and 86D.

What else will make the search worthwhile? Other things to look for?

    Thanks.

If you have a good loupe, you can also look for RPM's, (Repunched Mintmarks), on your coins. The 1960-D cents have quite a few for their year. Check out any and all 1955, 1969-S, 1972, 1984, and 1995 Lincoln cents that you might come across for Double Dies, (along with many other years, but those are the crux of them I believe?)

Look at your 1999, 2000, and 2001 Lincolns for the Wide AM's, (it's a variety in which the AM on the reverse are distanced from each other, rather than almost "touching".) Also check out your 1994's, and your 1994-D's for just the opposite variety, the Closed AM's. You can find out more info on RPM's and Doubled Dies on www.coppercoins.com, where there they have a list of the different things to look for on many dates and mints. You can also find out more info on the Closed and Wide AM's here.

I wish you the best of luck with your search, and please report back to us what you find!! Good luck! :thumb:

I thought 94 was the extra pillar and 92's were close AM?

You would be amazed at how many of those have extra pillars when you've had a few Martini's. ;)
As noted about coppercoins web site. You may want to look into one of the books the author of that web site has out.

You are right, my bad. (In fact, I didn't know about the extra pillar for the 94, lol.) I meant to say 92, but I was thinking 94 instead. Thanks for the correction! :high5:

If I am not mistaken there are some close and wide die variations from 1992-P&D through 2001P or even 2002. I can't recall the latest date. But finding the correct 1992-P or D Close or Wide (I can't remember which) but it is a large trip to the bank if you do find one. Also there is a 1970-S Doubled Die that is also very pricey I believe it is a large over small date. Also look for the different date varieties on the 1960-P&D and the 1970-P&D (small and large dates).
