I was in a good mood tonight, so I decided to add a piece to my IHC collection (if you you want to call it that). So far I have low grade 1901-1903 and 1905-1907 IHCs, and I decided to add a high grade (for me) filler 1904. I'll admit I'm a gambler, so I gambled on this piece: I'll post better pics when I have it in hand, but what do you think? Fred
That could be on the mylar Stainless ( lets hope ) A DARN good looking coin, very lustrous !!! Congrats !
I'm assuming it's in some type of protection, but it is a raw coin (not slabbed or graded) so I assuming the scratch is on the coin. Can't wait to see it in my grubby lil hands. I saw that scratch but my "thingy" wouldn't let me not buy it lol. Fred
I agree - let's hope that mark is not on the coin. Otherwise it is a very nice looking IHC. A nice coin for your type set.
Setting aside the coin for a moment, in more than 95% of the threads I've read over the years when "gamble" is part of the discussion, the gambler ends up on the short end of the stick. Unfortunately, I suspect this is the case for this coin as well. The color/surfaces doesn't look right to my eye. Hopefully it's just the way the pics were taken, and I'm 100% wrong. Looking forward to eating my words....Mike
I put alot of time into finishing my '37 type set for my father in law tonight, for my effort I felt I deserved something for myself, this was it. I spent quite abit of time looking around (an hour or so), and this is what I found, if it doesn't pan out I'll take my spanking like a man:headbang:
your IHC looks very nice! As far as IHC gambling goes, rule#1 dont gamble on high quality coins especially if raw. rule #2 buy them from a reputable dealer, try indiancent.com or mesacoin.com.
Hate to say this, but Ebay has really taken the gamble out .....almost With the Paypal only rule, and even better , credit cards, the no neg buyer feedback, it is almost a low risk situation buying on the bay. I hate the bay, dont get me wrong, BUT, chances are, if you get ripped, you'll recover your money. The odds are better than the craps table at a casino ( the most gambler friendly game offered) Don;t abuse it, still buy smart and do your homework by all means, but the situation for a buyer is better than it ever has been.
Well I hope it works out - can't wait to see your pictures. Like with Mike I think the color is slighly off - but hopefully just the sellers pictures. Agree with Jack about Ebay -there are still a lot of nice raw common date IHC's running around, just do your homework.
I just looked at the original pictures again and it is in an airtite, so the scratch could very well be on the holder. I looked at some other graded IHCs last night and I thougt this one looked better, it would need to probably grade MS63RD for me to break even. I don't plan to have it graded at this point, but may change my mind after I have it in hand, for now I'm going to plop in right between the 03 and the 05, although it will stand out like a sore thumb, since I think the other coins are in the F-VF range.
When you get the coin - please post some bigger clearer pictures. The coins certainly looks ms to me.
I got the coin today, and will try to get my own pics up in a bit. The scratch noted on the reverse by stainless does not appear to be there, must have been in the holder, and the color is much more 'natural' looking in hand, not so reddish. However, there appears to be a rim hit and maybe some other rim damage that was hidden by the shadowing at the bottom of the reverse. I'll know more when I get it under the scope. It is a great looking coin, not sure I came out ahead on the deal tho. Now I know why it's important to see coins in hand. Wish there was a dealer closer to home or work.
