Just found via some very knowledgeable dealers that the sales are done. Folks are getting the backorder message on purchases and the US Mink reserves the right to cancel the order which they will do. Who would have ever thought that 500K would vanish in less then four weeks on the open market! So much for my order...

Actually, I thought it would sell out much faster.

If this is true, it's certainly great news for those who bought early and stocked up. I had hoped that this would sell as strong as the buffalo silver dollar of 2001 and a sell out certainly will help secondary market price increases.

I'd love to see this become a $150.00 raw coin by summer.

I ordered one on the 4th, at the time it said backordered, then over the weekend it stated they were due to ship on the 13th, now it says the 11th. And since they finally have the order tracking page working, my status says in stock and reserved. Doesn't hurt to try, I don't think they charge you until it ships. The coin show on TV yesterday (I was bored) had these going for between $70-$130 graded

I just tried to order a few more, we'll see what happens.

I can certainly see that happening by summer. I didnt think it would sell out this quick either. I only wish that I would have bought more.

I got 20 of each in that hopes that this would happen. When it didn't happen after a couple weeks, I was really getting worried. Feeling better now though.

    I need rent money ...lol.

I hope the unc. stays under 120,000 mintage ..that would rock !

    works for me

Well that is good news for me as a collector! I even brought an extra one to have for a sale in this happened!!

This was going to be part of a special set (dollar and one each of the 4 cents) later this spring. Is that right?

I'm skeptical of the sell out/sales done rumor until I hear it from the US Mint. It's more likely a production slow down due to the shortage of blanks. If true it would be great but for now the jury is still out.

I've fallen for the "very knowledgable dealer" says trick one to many times to take your or his word for it. But I hope it's true.

Heard the special set is coming out this month via a US Mink employee so keep checking the US Mink site- there are only going make 50,000 of this puppy so they will sell out in a few days and make some nice profit in the very near future. Any guesses on what you guys think the Lincoln Silver dollar will reach in value by this year?

According to the Mint's list on their web site, the "Lincoln coin set" is to be released this summer. My understanding is this is the set with the Lincoln dollar and the 4 different cents. According to a recent article in Coin World, the mint has contracted to use copper planchets with the same composition as the original 1909 cents for this set.

    what?

what happened to just collecting coins because you like them? i only bought one of them, and if this happens to be true, which i doubt, then i won't get it. i bought it in february, but i'm still on backorder. you guys bought a bunch just to sell them and make a profit, but there are people out there, like me, who can't afford to shell out $150 dollars for one. it's just sad that you're all hooping and hollering about it, when a lot of people that just LIKE the coin and don't give a crap about making a profit on it won't be able to get their hands on it. how sad.

btw, just checked my account at mint, it says:

"In stock and reserved" next to both the proof and the unc.

    One of my sources-

    http://www.silvercoinstoday.com/

    Is this a good source?

I only ordered only three coins for my kids and I told them 'never' to sell them even if the coin goes up to $10,000! I personally feel that it will top out at $50 once the dust settles on the rumors.

    I only order 1 UNC

I guess that we will be stunned later this year when they sell more. the mint has put aside some for the Lincoln set with the 4 new cent, there still 50'000 of this set yet

There are only 50,000 of half the set left.
They only set aside 50,000 proof coins.
Once the Unc. is gone, it's gone.

    Commi,

I can certainly understand your frustration. I also buy coins because I like them but since 2006, I've also been buying extra coins to flip inorder to assist with the providing of food and shelter for myself and my family. So yes, I do get a little excited when I pick a hot coin and it increases in value on the secondary market. That means I will hopefully be able to make April and hopefully May's house payment.

I got in line right along with you and everyone else last month and I still don't have all of my coins in hand but I can only pray that my orders will be filled. I'm sorry that you think it's sad that I'm trying to make a "profit" but I gambled big on this coin to help me put food on my families table.

Your profit is not of greed like some of the coin dealers - One in our area has three brand new mercedes for all his daughters to drive and live in very expensive houses that I consider that greed and taking advantage of us regular folks that need the little extra to get food or pay rent. Glad the US Mint didn't allow them to purchase 1000's in one order but I am sure they got their share via abusing the 100 per person rule...
