I have this 1976 bicentennial quarter with what looks like a D mint Mark but, it's solid, filled in. Is this an Error or damage of some sort? Appreciate any info.
It’s a die chip that filled the mm. While it is an error, filled D mintmarks were very common on coins in the 70s and add no value
Appears to be PMD to me. The MM took a hit in its long life of circulation. Just a well wore quarter. NAV. Welcome to CT and sorry that you had nothing better to do on Christmas Day than to join us here. LOL
Well, Some family died and well yeah, preoccupy my mind with searching coins etc... All in All, Christmas sucked here in my world. Just wanted to join a page where I knew true knowledge of coins was. After research and watching videos about coins etc... the youtube channel host recommended this website. But thanks and sorry for the intrusion.
No intrusion at all. Sorry for your Christmas events, but you are more than welcome here and I look forward to reading and seeing your posts. Don't forget to post your photos Full Image as it makes it easier on us old guys.
Mint marks were blobby at best, back in dem days, but I think post mint (mortem) damage is involved.......
I agree, I thought it was damage as well with a slight almost unnoticeable error. So I think all are right. A Combination of damage over error. It seems clear to me that the ever so slight error has been damaged. Regardless, eye candy without the sugar
