I was watching the news on Cnn Int. yesterday night,I saw a report on economic crisis in USA. I saw there is a car offer, You can buy a brand new car for only downpayment of $1 Bill! I also saw "Pizza Hut"'s offer. Buy a large get a medium one topping for a penny,I was wondering if any of you tried this promotion/offer. I just saw (on the net) that it was not for the cause of economic crisis,it's for "In honor of Abe Lincoln's 200th birthday". You can see the promotion on their website http://www.pizzahut.com/ . (I'm not advertising "Pizza Hut" from Middle East,If any of Modos here want to remove the brand's name or the link,It's okay!Surely I don't have any problem with it ) This promotion is a system to collect 0.01 instead of nothing. It is also a promotion, maybe 1 of this million penny could be a VDB or a DD error...who knows! They can "lucky strike"! (ofcourse not a VDB but a Penny that have a numismatic value) Do you think when this offer is over, you will see on Ebay "A bag of pennies collected at PH" or if you want "UNSEARCHED" bag of... Do you think this offer valuate the "One Cent"? If you don't have that one cent, you don't get that free pizza...so "MORE" valuating American Dollar $tarts with valuating the american ONE CENT. OR Do you think they are going to do such offers from other companies too, to collect all Lincoln cents from the people's hand?Because I heard that it's going to be stopped,After 100 of coinage of Lincoln Memorial & Wheat Penny. 1909-2009. What do you think? Talk. OFF TOPIC Question: What will be the design of 2010 One Cent?
I don't think this is any kind of deal to round up circulating cents, and I don't think they're going to end up on eBay. This is just a marketing promotion; instead of buy one, get one free, it's just something different for people to hear. I assure you that Pizza Hut is not gunning to find a 1909-S VDB in pocket change.
Thanks for that Link. There are a lot of them around me. What would be fun though is to go there with a British Penny. Since so many coin people out there insist we do not have PENNIES in the USA, only a CENT. The only problem I see is the add showed our PENNY not a British thing.
Yeah, they don't care about getting that "penny", they want to get you in there to buy that large one at regular price. They will get a lot more sales with that "penny" offer than they would just promoting a lower price on the large one.
