Then it's a penny token. I don't know too much about foreign tokens, so being the lazy millennial that I am, I just googled "Perkins token, New Zealand". I come up with some pages with general information, but the one with rarity was a Stacks-Bowers auction archive: https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/l...unedin-perkins-co-penny-token-nd-ngc-au-58-bn It gives the Krause-Mishler number (along with several other catalog numbers), a rarity and estimated price. There doesn't seem to be too many examples out there; going off of NGC and PCGS pop reports, that Stacks auction appears to be only one certified.
I hate to be the assumer, but I believe they are using the Sheldon scale. So less than a 100 exist, which sounds fair because I'm sure less than 1000 were made.
These came 3 days ago, not positively ID'ed yet. They are all thick, dump type coins, up to 17 grams.
Thanks! Here's a PCGS article on the rarity scale that Sheldon came up with: https://www.pcgs.com/books/silver-dollars/chapter02/5
I just got this oddity yesterday, this is a ring-money that was used by the Korintji/Kerinci people or tribe of Sumatra who lived in the interior of the island. The brass rings were used around 1700 until 1900 AD and were noted by numerous colonial historians, most notably Millies in his 1871 work that would become the first published piece on what would become Indonesian numismatics. Korintji People of Sumatra Present-day Indonesia c. 1700 - 1900 AD Brass Ring with Riveted Outside Rim and Two Inner Bands also known as anye or ringgeld 2.38 grams | 22mm wide | ring 2mm wide, 3mm tall Ref: Millies (1871) #210, 211; see below
Does it have the 3 sided triangle 2 dollar coin ? I got the 1987 proof set because I wanted the proof version of the 2 dollar 3 sided coin...
All coins have 3 sides...obverse, reverse, and edge. Most are circular, but they come in many shapes and sizes.
This for you and Razz...pick a side....LOL... https://66.media.tumblr.com/7caaa46...TKBRivWDplz-yhFmnlV5fLcWz3gMIOqG76jGg83Y-bpN4
