I like looking thru dateless Standing lib lots for the elusive 1916, however I came across this sold lot from a while back and it looks like the buyer may have scored a cherry pick? Not a 1916 but could have been a pick imo either a 21 or a 24. What do yall think of the quarter second from right. was it a cherry pick? or just wishful thinking? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Silver-Standing-Liberty-Quarters-No-Dates-Lot-Of-4-/133607179640?hash=item1f1b9bc578%3Ag%3A8QEAAOSw0Z1f2MOW&nma=true&si=NBES4f88WvszSULzDllHBCj4PzY%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
The second from the right is a 1921, you can see what's left of the 1 at the right and it isn't a 4. It can't be anything else as we didn't mint any quarters in 1931.
Could be dumb luck or the winning bidder may have recognized it (in which case it would be a cherrypick), but it does appear to be a 1921.
One sure way to tell a dateless 1916 from the obverse side is if the olive branch crosses the L in Liberty. If so, it's a 1916.
Here are some of the diagnostics that can be used to determine the date on a dateless Type 1 SLQ: (Taken from this forum discussion: https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=294479 )
