I have been very lucky in my collection of Wheaties S. When I got discharged from the Army at Ft Bragg, NC, I stayed in North Carolina, mostly because I married a Tarheel. All I could find were Wheaties from the Philadelphia Mint (no mintmark). All of my family live in California, Oregon, and Washington State. My father was a collector and when he passed on, he had tons of Wheaties with "D"s and "S"s which I got half. My brother got the other half. For years, we have been trading Wheaties as well as other coins minted out west.

Oh! Yes! Yes! That, too...also...as well! So, it seems perfectly fine that some people like them and some won't be interested in acquiring more of them. I happen to like the Art Deco style and the reverse of the wheat cent whispers "Art Deco" to me.

I too collect wheaties. I separate them by decade, I have on average between 1800 and 2200 of each decade through 1958. In a very slow process I am inspecting each coin for numismatic value and personal collection purposes, mainly for my heirs. My joy is in the collection process and knowing that I leave our granddaughters with a healthy, happy, and valued work ethic. Yes, I have a variety copper, bronze, silver, and gold coins, bullion, and stocks. Lucky girls!

    John Skelton Morgan man!

I live in Missouri, so I would think we could get all the mint marks. But I don't even look at cents to collect. I have enough as it is. I still don't see the appeal. It seems everywhere I turn - the coin shop or shows - there are already a ton out there for the taking. They just seem so very common, besides being plain.

In Texas, San Francisco marks are pretty rare to find... it's always a surprise to find one...
