Maybe it's just a result of me looking at way too many pennies today, but as I was sliding this 1992 D Lincoln Cent around under my microscope, his eye jumped out at me as being different somehow. I snapped a photo of it...

    A closer look...

It just looked strange to me. So, I grabbed another penny and compared the two. Here is a representation of that...

Am I right? Is this anything significant? What do you guys think?

    What looks different to you?
I see a normal circulated Cent.

The eyes just look different to me. I guess it is just me looking too close. Sorry.

Die wear and slight design changed by the US mint can certain things look different.

Look up Kennedy Half Dollar Accented Hair as an example.

I started looking into this a little closer after I posted this thread. I started to think that very thing, that it was just a combination of different levels of wear from circulation and that the design itself changes year to year. I don't know why it looked so startlingly different to me. I suppose I am thriving more for those errors and varieties than actually collecting at this stage of my involvement with this hobby. But, you hit it right on the head of the nail, so to speak. Thank you for being so patient with me while I learn all of this stuff. Thank all of you guys!

I see the difference in the level of wear between the two coins. See the dif. wear on the nose and the beard.
