Just wondering who buys rolls from the mint, and if so what kind? Do you keep them intact or put the coins in 2x2's keep what you want and trade or resell the rest.

What about mint bags of coins, does the average coin collector buy them to have bags of 100-250 of the same coins around? and if so why?

    just curious.

I think many keep them intact but

I think many keep them intact but I take them apart pull the gems and spend or resell the rest. It will be several decades before any of them have even the value paid for them if over face.

A lot of people buy the bags with some ill-concieved idea about searching them for errors. They think it is more likely that errors, especially the more spectacular one such as off-centers etc, are more likely to be found in the bags than in rolled coins. While they are correct in that assumption, the fact that the number of such errors is such a tiny percentage of the total mintage that after paying the high premiums for enough bags to have even a small chance at finding one, you would still be way in the hole if you did find one.

But when you buy the OBW rolls from the bank, you can look at them and spend them and always break even.

Very true, but the question is about buying them from the Mint.
