I would open the back of the watch and check to make sure it is real, obviously not an antique as Fossil was founded in 1984.

Its 100% real... I know this isn't a watch somebody would have the time to fake nor a reason to... It was quite a common watch and I see no reason a person would think to fake... Just my 2 cents

I don't know if it is indicative of all their prices, but $50 would be very high even if it was genuine. In that condition I wouldn't expect more than $20.

You might consider returning the watch too as they are under $30 on Ebay.

We can’t really judge the condition with that picture.
In any case, I agree that 50 is on the high side.

@DarkRage666 if you are interested in watches I recommend to research a bit and learn about the movements.
Avoid cheap Chinese quartz movements. I know fossil uses some Japanese (seiko) movements for the chronograph models.

goossen, sorry I should have been specific. I was referencing the bill, not the watch. The bill exhibits missing corners and several tears making it very low grtade.

Could be, I bought a set in my local drug store in the late 60's very cheap. I got rid of them a few years ago. I also have a set of Civil War newspaper "copies" that came in a clear snap pouch. Lots of that stuff out there.

I doubt if the dealer knew enough about the bill to actually know it could have been a fake, so if he is honest, I would think he would refund your money, or give you a credit to make sure you spent it there and not elsewhere. Live and learn, that's what life is all about.

The silver lining. Young man I congratulate you on the bargain basement price of $100 for the lesson I hope you can put behind you and move on, regardless be they real or counterfiet. I think you left out two steps on your purchase. A couple hours on the internet could give you a half a dozen basic things to look for on suspect currency. Another couple hours of researching to understand the going price for that genre of note your interested in. This is not meant in any way to be condenscending. The silver lining would be that all other purchases in life will be similar. You'll probably save your self thousands in the future. May your long future be prosperous young man...martha

After rereading and pondering your reply, I take back my "like". Because I went back and reread cpm9ball's reply too. It now comes across to me like an older person who is trying to keep you on the right course. You do want an apartment. A nice car. Your own place. If so, then do you really have $100, plus the $200 bucks you mentioned spending last week to splurge on luxuries ? I'm sure this could sound condencending, and I'm not trying to sound like a parent counseling a child, but I think cpm9ball was on to something there. Trying to make you think. In best regards...martha Ps It took me awhile to get the hang of cpm9ball , and I'm glad I stuck it out. And apologies to you chris.
