I found this little pipsqueak in a small lot of Greek AR fractions. It's worn and corroded, and I doubt I will be able to identify it, but I'd like to be able to at least classify it correctly. So I have a few questions: 1) Am I correct that, at around 4.9 mm and 0.19g, this is a tetartemorion and not a hemiobol? 2) Could it be called a 1/96th stater, or does that imply that it is gold or electrum? 3) Is it safe to assume that it dates from the late 6th to early 5th century B.C.? I would call it a tetartemorion realizing that names like that are risky enough when you can ID the coin and see if that city used litra or obols as a base. I don't wish to be difficult but the best use for this coin might be to spend it the next time you time travel. I just ask that you avoid the urge to pop it in your mouth so you can spit it out at the market to make your purchase. We have come a long way from the spit and pay days until today with touchless payment systems. Nice photo. Did you agonize over which side was up or is this just a case of drop and click?
