PART_1530049811006_IMG_20180626_164826.jpg My cousin has this coin. My search has brought me here. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that would know what it's value is? Any info can be helpful. Oh and yes a magnet pics it up and it is the size of an ordinary penny.

It has been plated after it left the mint. Sorry but it is only worth one cent.

I agree with @ldhair it has been plated not a mint error.

Fully concur with the fellas above. It's a high school science experiment in metal plating. Welcome to CT

That coin has been plated so it's now damaged and it never was an error. It's was either done in someone's garage or basement or it's a high school experiment.

That Cent was plated. It is not made of steel.

    Now there’s a coincidence. I had a 1964 steel Dodge.

I think we need to differentiate strong vs weak attraction to a magnet.
I would say strong attraction should feel like sticking a magnet to your fridge.

Weak attraction can be caused by the plating, for example if plated with pure nickel.
