I have a coin I would like to know more about and value if anyone can estimate. The coin is a 1901 Indian head cent ant on the obv it has the strike of a wheat cent over the face and the one cent is clear and the epluribus is there but mirror image. Please see pics and help me out with this. Also has a big V struck in it which someone said was the Void strike yet somehow it made it to circulation. Unfortunately this is not an error at all... The "V" has no meaning at all to anyone besides the person who put it there... and it was not at the mint. As for the wheat cent impression... this coin was squeezed next to a wheat cent in a vice and the coins left an impression on each other. These coins commonly get mistaken for errors but are no more then mangled damaged coins.
Another, Welcome to Coin Talk! I agree with LostDutchman but keep trying and you will find some nice errors or varieties. Frank
Another, I agree with the others (anothers?) - your IHC is a squeeze job. Where do you live in the North GA mountains? I grew up in GA and I get to Gainesville on occassion.
The above are correct, but what a nice squeeze coin to get you interested! Put it aside as a remembrance, you will start to value it more than many others. Probably many of us still have the original coin that got us started in this! Welcome to the forum! Many mystery coins to come. Jim
Thank you all Thank you all. I have a whole bunch of oddities and I save everything that doesn't look right. Never really got into looking them up or getting opinions. Just found this place and you all are really great. Thank you. I live in a little town called Talking Rock, Just outside of Jasper and 15 mins south of Ellijay. My grandsons live near Gainsville. Small world
WELCOME TO THE FORUM. Unfortunately the LostDuchman is right. To bad, HUH? Imagine how much a coin would be worth with all that and from the Mint. And that V! Many, many people stamp coins with logos, thier initials, club names, associations and then put them back in change. I presume they wait to see how long it takes to reapear. Keep looking. You may find a real one.
I know where Talking Rock is. Been a LONG time since I have been throught there though. I bet it has really grown. Do you have a red light now? :loud:
talking rock Jasper has grown a great deal but good old Talking rock still doesn't have a red light. We do have our own Post Office though
