1868 Two Cent

    New purchase today. I grade it as XF-40. Also gives me a chance to practice my photography. Comments on the coin, my grading, or my photography are welcome.

    I struggled a bit to get the lines on the shield to show in the picture.

    The pictures are really small, but I would say you are right about the grade. The pictures might be good if they were bigger.

    Nice coin ! Color-wise... is it a little lighter in hand ?

    I have a problem when I photograph darker coins surrounded by a white border (2x2, NGC slab). Since the camera's auto feature is taking in a certain amount of light from the entire frame, it gets most of the light from the white border, not the coin itself. Thus the coin is underexposed.

    So I take some black construction paper and surround the coin. It always comes out with better color.
