While few are embarassed to admit they collect the series, collectors of this series, in the end, will see tremendous numismatic gains. Wait and see.
Not at all but when they first came out most posters ridiculed the series and the images and those that chose to collect them. So, most went into hiding and quietly sent away for them in private. At one time there were as many first spouse haters as there were those who hated the presidential series. There are haters for all modern coins in one form or another. The popular kids now are big time haters on the Native American reverse and the upcoming National Park quarters.
Why would anyone be embarassed about any coin series they collect? I used to collect mutilated coins when I was younger. I quit when i started to torture them myself. I have to admit, they looked pretty cool after a train squashed them!
