Intreresting looking coin but I think it was caused from being pressed against another cent where the 2 coins were back to back. That's the only explaination I can think of for depressions in the high points of a coin. The damage around the letters also went deep enough to slightly effect the field and I think they are reversed letters from the host coin.
I have to agree with Pyrbob on this. Also another thing that he did not point out is that if you look at the ME of AMERICA you can see the damage that was caused by the coin pushing against it. It was a clash then you should not see that type of damage on the ME in my opinion. Dave
Jello I don't think any one has even implied that you did. We are just given you our opinion of what we see on the coin. Please don't get defensive. As Prybob said it is much to light to have been done intentionally, and more then likely could have been at the bottom of a bag sent out to one of the contractors ie H.F. String & Sons to be rolled.
