After putting this project aside for a few months, I have decided to get back to work on documenting & displaying my collection. Although not complete, I do have a large amount of my collection shown. my collection (coins, currency & stamps of Yugoslavia)
Thanks for posting these, it's a nice collection. I'm particularly interested in your mention of Yugoslavia Pick 29 as being printed by Banque de France. I have not been able to find a specialized Yugoslavia catalog that would list such things as the printer of the note... can you tell me where that information comes from? My own collection is of French and French-printed banknotes, which is why I'm interested. Thanks, Dave
Just had a look and unfortunatly a lot of them are showing as the dredd red X the ones I could see look absolutly great :high5:
Very nicely done! Others here know a heck of alot more about foreign notes than I but they sure look nice! RickieB
Not exactly sure where I got it. I think it was an online source, but I do not remember. I do remember that it was also mentioned in your thread on CoinPeople.com There is a specialized catalog for Yugoslav banknotes, although I haven't added it to my library just yet. The catalog is by Borna Barac. The name is long, and I don't remember it off the top of my head. I have a list of books/catalogs that I want to add this summer, and it is at the top.
looked it up in my notebook (I keep a notebook with my collection, often jotting down little tidbits of information that I stumble upon while surfing the web. have a dedicated section for listing reference books that I would like to eventually acquire) Banknotes of the States of the Former Yugoslavia 1767-2002 Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and Yugoslavia author: Borna Barac publisher: Obol Publishing, Zagreb, Croatia issued: 2002 pages: 280, illustrated ISBN: 953-6388-05-7 this author also has a specialized Croatian currency catalog (which seems to be virtually impossible to find), titled Papirni novac Hrvatske, 1778-1998 author: Borna Barac publisher: Obol Publishing, Zagreb, Croatia issued: 1998 pages: 111, illustrated ISBN: 953-6388-03-0 another book I would recommend (which is #2 on my wishlist) is a newer book titled The Guide to Coins and Banknotes of Yugoslavia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia (2007, 1st edition) Autor: Zlatko Viscevic publisher: self-published issued: 2007 pages: 550, illustrated ISBN: 978-953-99817-1-4
There is a link I got from there - http://www.ser-banknotes.netfirms.com/ - which I'm not sure is accurate. It lists this note, as well as the well known French print P25 to be printed by ZIN Belgrade, not Banque de France. Thanks very much for the catalog links. I've been looking for the catalog by Borna Barac for a while now, and haven't seen a copy. Unfortunately this seems to be a common theme for these specialized catalogs. Dave
I found eveidence of the first two books listed on Amazon. None for sale, but since they are written in Croatian, i wouldnt be able to read them anyhoot lol The book by Zlatko Viscevic i cant seem to find anywhere, but will continue to look! Thanks!
Very interesting. The P25 is the 1926 issue, with the P26 being the 1929 issue. The P26 may well indeed have been issued by ZIN, however, I am skeptical of the P25 being issued by ZIN, as the building was not begun until 1927, with construction finished in 1929. According the background information on ZIN found on the National Bank of Serbia website, banknote production was begun in 1930, with the first 10 dinara notes printed there in 1931 . So, looking at the timeline for ZIN, and the dates on these early YU notes, perhaps the P29 was printed by ZIN, just designed by the engravers from BdF?
