Heartland America is selling BU Morgans for $69.99. Is this worth it? Any comment will be helpful. Thanks. Link to Heartland: http://www.heartlandamerica.com/bro...39D0-3782-4A4F-BC5D-6CA7E06DF92C&BC=S&DL=SEH2
"Buy them today in 5 years you will be glad you did" Maybe when your great grandchildren go to sell them they'll be worth 69 bucks.
A total waste of money to buy these. I can say with 99% certainty that these Morgans are common dates that you can pick up in the same exact grades for at least half of that price. Also, I've never heard of the American Alliance Coin Grading Service and are a generic company that slabs for the sole reason to make you think that these coins are worth what they're asking. They are not! If you absolutely need slabbed Morgans then go with a reputable TPG (Third Party Grader) like PCGS, NGC or ANACS, the top three. Stay away from these types of ads and from TV shows such as HSN. They are no good.
Thanks for the reply's. I have a red book on order but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm finding out there sure are a lot of liars out there trying to sell a coins. I'm really glad I asked this forum before purchasing. Thanks again.
Dowser, First, welcome to the boards! Second, that's too much. Last weekend at the Parsippany show I picked up some PCGS OGH (Old Green Holder) common date Morgans in MS62 for $35ish each, I recently bought a nice NGC MS64 1885 with beautiful rim toning from my local coin shop (Who is fantastic BTW) for $50 I have bought plenty of Raw BU Morgans at shows/shops for $25-30 each. Bill
First off they don't say what date & usually they are sliders not BU. PS the new red book is not out till May. Ummm you know Barnes & Noble can order the book for you so you don't have to pay shipping & handling.
Don't buy, go to your local coin shop and you can get them cheaper. Go to a local show and you might really be able to get them in the 30 dollar range. Keep looking.
ABSOLUTELY NOT! You can get BU on ebay for $22-$30 depending on date, could be more Also, you can get a graded BU coin for around $43-$60 depending on year It's either that you showed us, or a NGC MS64 coin for $70, I'd take the NGC graded one!
What I find amusing about this offer is the "MSR $99.95" statement. MSR is, of course, Manufacturer's Suggested Retail price. This must mean the US Mint is suggesting the $99.95 price! Also, it is stated twice in the offer that you're getting a "Morgan Silver Dollar Certificate". Are you getting an actual Morgan Dollar or just a certificate, whatever that would mean? The listing provides an opportunity to post a review. I did that and got a reply that it would be reviewed within 7 days. I doubt that it will pass their censors and be shown.
As everyone has said NOT a good buy. Like some have said go to a local coins shop and look. It will help your grading skill and you can learn alot from some very knowledgable shop owners and you will get a nice coin for much less. The important thing is that you will have learned a bit about coins.
nonononononononono, ptui on the ground no. There should be a red light and a siren showing how far off limits these wonder buys should be
Companies like this one and many others run on the 95/5 rule. Basically only 5% will return the coins because they are unhappy. The rest generally don't know what they are getting & presume that the dealer has been honest.
