I found this quarter and was wondering if it is real or fake. both sides are exactly the same except they are 90deg. offset. the mint mark is p.

Almost certainly post mint damage, these are called "Magician's Coins". However, 2 genuine ones have been slabbed by PCGS, but in reality, they either cut up two coins, with the first one being hollowed out to accept the face of another or they sliced two down the middle and glued them together. This comes up on here a lot
You could tell the coin was altered they shave one coin down and place another into the shaved coin. You could notice the rims on the coin a magic coin you have. You also could tell how close the elements are to rim JC
