Not sure if there’s anything here but we went on vacation last weekend and my 6 year old bought something and got some change back and noticed this quarter was smooth on the edges and I have looked at a few threads about these quarters and I’m interested to know if this is worn or maybe a error? Looks to perfect to me to be worn! I have seen a few that the edges still showed some rigged and the top and bottoms did also.

Hammered on the edge of the coin. Usually to make a ring.

It's damaged. Someone beat the edge with a spoon to make it smooth but gave up in turning the coin into a ring.

You'd think they could develop a machine that could do it instead of someone senselessly beating the edge of the coin with a spoon forever. Like trying to paint the entire Golden Gate Bridge with just a one inch paintbrush. Chuck Norris could do it in a week, but he's not your average human.
