Just in from Lansky Auction... AV 20 Litrae ND struck 405-400BC Syracuse Mint Dionysios I 405-367BC 1.16g. 11mm. Head of Herakles wearing Lion skin Quadripartite Incuse Square/ E-Y-P-A/ Head of Arethusa ex: Sadijas Collection/ Milon Cornette de Saint Cyr 2009
Great coin @panzerman - the face of Herakles, his lion skin cap and club show amazing detail for a 11 mm coin. Congrats!
Thanks guys! I was "multi-tasking" doing weights/ plus keeping an eye on auction progress. I have gotten four coins from Bru/ Wellco, Gallery 51/ Lansky all same auction house! Their grading is ultra conservation really love their auctions. John
I really like this coin, John. Very nice. Great detail, interesting reverse. Congrats for the first 2021!
This is my first coin with a "Tyrant" as ruler Wonder if he used the "Brazen Bull" to kill his enemies....
Really remarkable, @panzerman. ...I'm still getting over the notion of a coin anticipating the Alexandrian motif by that much.
The details are incredible for such a small coin @panzerman !!! You certainly had a great start to 2021!
Some of my best quality coins came from Lansky/Gallery51/ BruWellco all same firm. I was going for the AR Denarius of Philip I (Lion reverse) but ran low on $$$$ John
