I really wish, if this coin turns out to have doubling on it, that it would have been in better shape being my first DD.

This looks like die deterioration doubling to me.

@Jeff Callahan Don't give up hope Jeff. I found a 1972 WDDR-002 in circulation this past summer.

It wouldn't be the first time I made a mistake. Just ask my ex-wife.

    $5-$10 is incredibly optimistic. Maybe a dollar or 2. I've found 3 or 4 of the 72D-DDO1.

I'm not good with these minor issues but that is probably one of the many varieties that are available for this Cent. Keep it safe and protected.

Hey Jeff, great find. Were you pretty sure it was a DDO when you posted? There's nothing like the feeling of having discovered an error coin, then having it verified. Well done.

I am so glad that someone finally verbalized to me the fact that they remember their first find and can affirm to me that I should feel this exited and this reinvigorated. I can't afford to invest a lot of money into this hobby, so pennies are my choice to get started. However, I must admit that I have been feeling like I had to force myself to pull some coins and sort through them. I just hope it doesn't take as long to find my second, and, that it is epic! Thank you!

I found 3 1972 DDO's within a month or so after my wife gave me her loose change from her purse. I have been checking the penny barrel periodically and nothing more, yet. You will hit a dry spell and it could last a long time, however, never "Give Up the Ship."

My first doubled die was a 1995P. Followed by another one about a week later. About a month after that I found my 1972P DDO-001.

Can't beat that lol. Shoulda bought a lottery ticket then. Oh well.

@Jeff Callahan My apology Jeff. I did not see the bottom photos or they did not show because my internet has been wonky for days after a recent ice storm here. Nice catch.
