I'm now trying to determine what a good site for selling coins is. Stack's, Heritage and Great Collections are out because I don't have coins to sell at their level (but I do buy often from GC). Just to give you an idea of my selling level I'm looking to sell PCGS and NGC slabbed silver Roosevelt dimes in MS-65, -66 and -67. After a quick look these names caught my eye: HiBid Auction Zip Proxibid Pristine Auctions Any comments about them or additional sites?
I would chose Ebay first. i never heard of those others. Another choice would be coin club auctions but this COVID world has shut that down until ??? If your a member on PCGS chat - i know they have a section Buy-sell-trade. I look from time to time but never acted on anything
I personally feel like you will have better luck (and more profit) selling them on coin forums and social media (Facebook, Reddit, Instagram to name a few.) It will be more work, but you won't pay any fees you don't want to and you will have more control over the entire retail process. eBay has a huge customer base, so you might sell items more quickly. But they do not care about small volume sellers at all - to the point where their customer service was not only indifferent but actively hostile the last time I dealt with them. I list auctions on AuctionZip (using an auctioneer's account) and it's a good place to sell cheap raw stuff. Slabs that are not silver dollars or classic US coinage have not sold well in my experience. Just my two cents.
I don't have any of those. I spend enough time at my computer now. I don't want social media to increase that.
After looking around some I've decided that it would be rather difficult to beat eBay. That means you will probably get the greatest exposure for your items there. In my particular case since I'm clearing out not only numismatic items but also philatelic items, knick-knacks and other collectibles/stuff. And I suspect that eBay is at least as good as other buying/selling sites with respect to buyer and seller protection. So, I'm going to bite the bullet and sign up for Managed Payment. I'll test the waters by listing a number of items and see how well the system works. I'll still use PayPal for buying assuming there's no problems in that arena. I dislike this but I haven't seen a better solution.
For all the complaining on here about eBay, millions of people use it every day with no problems. You'll have the easiest time selling there.
Proxibid is an auction aggregator - you would need to sell through the auction house that is using them as a platform
