Anybody know what this is ? There is lettering that appears under the design ?

    Sorry, but can you show Pics using a Phone Camera instead of Microscope . It's better to see what your talking about . Also, Can you show whole coin ? Thanks ! ;)

    Well, I know it's not an error . Does it maybe look like a substance may have eaten away at the copper ?

    I couldn’t tell the date...too blurry. The reverse shots are better, but I’m not seeing lettering under the design.

    What I am seeing is an F12 condition wheat cent that’s been cleaned. Some organic substance was on the coin for...a long time, protecting those bright surface areas.

    One of the problems with conservation is the removal of “crud” and being left with exactly this kind of result, imo. A big reason cleaning is discouraged is because you don’t know what kind of surface you will have once the “dirt” is removed.
