Hi, I'm curious what other people's success has in been finding star notes. I've been collecting currency since mid Jan and have found 2 $1 stars in the last 3 wks. The curious thing is that they are both from the NY Reserve Bank (I'm in the SF Bay Area) and I received them as change. I'm guessing this is probably just luck, but I thought I'd ask if others have had similar success with the stars. Other recent successes have been: $1 Repeater - 00274274 $50 Bill - Series 1969c from bank Had a teller give me $3.50 in Silver Clad Kennedys Side note: Is there anyone else collecting the old small face bills? A few tellers have been nice enough to say they'll set those aside for me. Figure I'll hang on to those for a while.
Never thought about my averages. I have a few small face hundreds and search all my change and bills. Got a '76 $2 star a week ago. One of my banks took my # and said they would call, but I doubt they will. An older guy and his grandson have first dibbs I believe.
I find probably 8-10 a week but only due to the fact that I see alot of currency go through my two laundromats. Bad part is that most of the ones I find are not in very good shape
They are really not that hard to find, I go thru 100 $1 bills everyweek and find about 4 star notes!!
i used to go to the bank on average about 3 tiems a week. I would bring $200 in searched singles to trade in. I would then go to a different bank, and buy $200 more. I averaged about 1.3 star notes per hundred. Sometimes i would get 1, i would get 2 alot, and i would get 3 somewhere in the middle
i see them on a daily basis but that is because i work at a bank. at this point i dont even put them to the side anymore unless it is and oldy or something i dont have for my chicago collection. i do have to say i mostly see $1 star notes the most. i did pull this one from work 2 days ago:thumb::thumb:
star notes I seem to pick up at least 3-10 stars a week, but thats cause where I work we go through thousands of dollars/hour and my wife works at a bank. She recently scored me 40 sequential 2003A $5 stars, so yeah that was a pricey week, but well worth it. Keep up the star hunting, if nothing else its a good way to save some money.:goofer:
I find them everyday...some I can afford and some I can not...LOL You just need to know where to look  RickieB
when RickieB goes looking for stars, he doesnt do it from circulation like you and me kevcoins he looks for them on Heritage lol
