Is this just machine doubling on this 1955 D penny? Sorry about the pics but getting the proper angle with a bad camera was not easy. I can take more with another phone if anyone wants one. Thanks View attachment 1229662
Wow picture museum it doesn't appear to be the 1955 ddo not even a poor man's you only have to focus on the date really.
A 1955 poor mans doubled die is associated with a 1955 Philadelphia mint cent. It’s actually an example of DDD, die deterioration doubling. http://doubleddie.com/144843.html With that said, there are 1955 D doubled dies: http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/DDO 1955-D.htm It would be best if you would post full (not thumbnails) clear pictures of the obverse and reverse in the correct alignment and closeups of the areas in question.
I don't believe this is Poor man's DD or even Poorer Man's DD . Keep trying . . Love the Pics, way to go !
In the 50s, they ran the dies to their limits, so you'll tend to find many chips, breaks, cracks and washout due to die deterioration. This looks like a worn die along with some circulation damage. Any LWC is worthy of keeping though.
