i posted my quetsion before your reply concerning tooled....which to me would ordinarily mean coin doctor work, but i have seen slabs that identify tooling by u.s. mint. i don't understand. tooled post mint and is graded au 50? is this an older slab or a yellow, and/or does it state details?

Go on the ANACS website to search for coins and then type in the #... it helps to have a visual... they show the coin and the holder

In general, a coin with AU details will be worth less than the same coin in AU. Your coin has AU details, but it's damaged (corroded, polished, tooled). Since it's a Morgan, someone still might be willing to pay more than melt value (currently around $21) for it, but not much more. Most people would consider a damaged coin to be worth less than an undamaged G or VG coin -- although, as always, there are exceptions.

thanks. your descriptions did not mention au 50 with details. that is quite different than stating au50 with polish lines.

Again, teaching a person for their own good is more helpful than not.

So, now the lesson is: When posting a question, post ALL relevant details so we're not guessing, Including as many pictures as relevant, usually obverse and reverse and any areas of interest.

Nice coin btw. What @jeffB said is valid in regard to value.
