Kennedy (JFK) "I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: "I served in the United States Navy"" -John F. US Army, but between conflicts. Joined Mar 61; discharged Mar 64. Just beginning to hear about Nam when I got out.
US AIR FORCE, 1957-1959. To young for WWII and korea. In my day you served willingly or not. I HAVE NOTHING BUT KUDOS FOR THE WWII GUYS WHO SAVED THE WORLD FROM LUNACY. Any time I meet a vet I thank them no matter when they fought. FIRST TIMER MIKE
We have a bunch of HEROS here on the boards. I'm a slacker but a NAVY dad, a proud father of a newly minted officer, Ensign Penrod ( MY last name used for referance only )
In 26 years I've been called a brain-washed pawn of the US Government and other vulgarities that would be edited by the Moderators. What made it all worthwhile was the people that approached me in uniform and shook my hand thanking me for my service. They are the people that made it all worthwhile and I'd lay great odds that you are one of those people, so you are not a slacker.
Great to see that so many of us have served our country honorably. I joined the USAF to get a higher education and was blessed to find I've received much more then that. Both my children were born while I was enlisted. My son served as a Marine and is now a man of God. He is now saving souls. My daughter is now helping to heal people as a RN. I could not be more proud of them. God bless us all and the USA! Allen USAF 79-86
When my daughter got home, she commented that at the airports ( both ) someone paid for her food and drinks.......just general folks that came up and thanked her. Amazing. Way to go America !!!!!
Ask her to tell you about all of the bad stuff. It is also amazing to see how rude Americans can be toward military people!! Usually the one good thing outweighs the 10 bad things!!
