I am looking to sell some of my extra coins to make money to purchase a higher end coin in auction. I have usually sold individual coins on ebay, local shop or at a show. edited What's the easiest way to sell them and what is the most potentially profitable way to sell them? One lot, large or small groups or individual? I am leaning on ebay not sure why but I am. Have people had luck posting in the ad section here on CT?
For something worth around $1 per coin, combining into lots is your best bet (particularly for related items or items that sell for close to bullion value). You won't get the individual coin price, but when accounting for the shipping costs and time saved, you can easily come out ahead. I'd suggest to try as many venues as possible to get the most exposure. The for sale section on here has often been slow for me, but some items do sell quickly. It doesn't cost you anything. Plus for something like silver dimes (where the spread is low), the lack of eBay fees can be difference between making a profitable sale and losing money.
Post a couple of pictures of what you have to offer and somebody will make you an offer unless you have a price in mind. I buy here on this forum all the time. I've also posted wants on this site and had several members fulfill my want list for me, so yes, I have had good luck.
No, don't post within this thread, that may cost you problems. Just go to the For Sale area! Good luck tater tot!
For sale section...it's happened before and the mods always say put it there (threads like these can only use generalities and not be attempting to sell).
