I bought this large cent a couple of days ago, but can't´t find it in Krause Standard Catalog of world coins. According to the date, it should be a Coronet Cent KM 45, but the portrait is quite different from the portrait on my 1816 KM 45.

Do you believe it is a fake?

Yep - that is the correct ovberse for an 1838 cent. The started changing them in 1835. I did not try to attibute the coin but it looks real to me.

Krause identifies all US Cents, from 1816-1839 as KM# 45

Your 1816 coin is commonly refered to as a "Matron Head" type, while your 1838 is a "Young Head" type.
