Found this beauty a few days ago, thought i'd share and get some input, pretty sure its just mechanical doubling, but it seems very pronounced to me.
Sorry i fixed it for some reason they posted sideways silly applications i don't know how to work that well yet
I look for clues. See the area above the word TRUST.. there is evidence of Die Deterioration. The sinking Ridge Ring effect. So that would affect the date and other areas. Die Deterioration Doubling Incuse (error-ref.com) Especially on Copper Plated Zinc Cents
@paddyman98 ...has the ticket punched, as usual. The obverse ridge ring, the date numeral...and the bowtie is strong but the hair detail is weak = weak strike and DDD. The reverse has weak last S/STATES and O/OF... All of this is classic weak strike and DDD...good call Paddyman. ...Spark
I'm assuming they aren't worth much. Not that i plan to get rid of it, first coin i've found like that, just cool to find something like that in such good shape out of circulation.
Quick way for me was to consider if the effect was to the device or adjacent to it. To the device, MD. Adjacent to the device, deterioration.
No assuming necessary, facts are facts. That being said... ...you should always keep coins you like, no matter what anyone else says. I have several hundred I have found or inherited over the years that have special relevance to me...if to no one else...Spark
I agree with Sparky. There may come a time when you decide to thin out the collection...especially when it starts to take up too much space, but you should keep the ones that make you happy. I have many others might not keep.
