I bought some rolls of read bu wheat cents from a guy. He had 100% positive feedback and things looked good to go. Once I got the coins one roll was not red. The rims and edges are all brown some of the coins are brown and several have bad carbon spots on them. They are not the same ones in the pictures. I contacted the seller about it returning the coins. He asked me what the problem was and I told him about the carbon spots. I haven't heard back, and I've sent two other emails since. I checked in ebay and his feedback score is now 98.2% and others have had the same experience. I've sent an email to ebay, but haven't heard back.

The cost of the auction was small, but I feel like I've been treated poorly by the seller. I've never have given neg. feedback, but I'm feeling like I should, can he burn me with neg. feedback if I give it to him? Also is this something paypal can help me with, or should I chaulk it up for a learning experience?

For those who have had the same or nearly the same problem what have you done?

From what I know, sellers can not respond with negative feedback.
Were these cents in the original rolls,(packaging) or did it seem they were opened up, and re-rolled back up.
I think that may play an important decision in your approach. If they were in their original packaging, then perhaps you may want to cut him some slack. It's always a nice selling feature if the original packaging is authentic.
I dunno, how much money are you talking about.
Can you post the link of the auction?.Id like to read it

    Hey ! Tater,

You ever hear the saying " Buyer Beware " .

I had a bad experience a couple of years ago when I bought a coin on e-bay what was advertised as BU. After I got the coin I didn't agree and took it to my local coin shop for another opinion. They gave it a EF circulated. So I wrote back to the seller and he as much said tough luck. You gets what you paid for. I gave him a bad rating on feedback and the next thing you know he sends me a download virus (which I didn't open). To this day I try to be honest on my feedbacks (99% good) but when they are wrong I tell them so and why.

They were not in the an OBW. They were sent in a tube and I knew that. The pics showed all of the coins lined up. I'm only talking $25 for the two rolls, so not too much money. I'm just upset that the seller has stopped all communication. His feedback was at 100% when I bid and now it is at 98.2% and the bad feedback is for the same thing, carbon spots and no cumminication.

Ya, I've heard of it. The first peace dollar I bought was off of ebay. A nice MS-63 that turned out to be XF. I didn't complain about that one, said I learned a lesson. But this one has me upset. They are not the coins in the pics, feedback was good, and he never mentioned anything about carbon spots.

Okay, the first thing you need to do is file a dispute with PayPal. If the seller doesn't respond, upgrade it to a claim and PayPal will go after him. They'll ask you to return the coins to him and you'll get your money back... eventually.

Tater I hear what your saying. Have you tried talking to paypal. Its probably the best place to start.

Ok, I changed my position on this one. If he has broken off all communication, then let him have it in a negative rating and comments saying poor communication and bad coins.
I can't stand that crap..thinking that if they will hide you'll go away.
If another guy has already going through the same issues then it seems perfectly justified.
    CAN YOU POST THE LINK????????????????/

Ok,,enoughs enough..if thats the picture he posted, and considering the negatives he seems to be collecting (including the other applicable one pertaining to your issue), then let em have it.
If he was a good communicator (which obviously he is not now), then I could understand you potentially trying to resolve it properly.
Go head...blast him..timing couldnt be any better. Some of these sellers forget about the retail business and how customer service works.
You can retract negative feedback from what I recall, if you guys reach an agreement.
Ill hang tight and wait for your feedback to be posted.

I just sent him an ebay email and asked him if i can return these coins in the listing you posted if they are not exactly as pictured.
Ill let you know if he ever responds...if he does then I will ask him to give you a refund.

That is exactly right! Wait to leave a feedback until after you get your re-fund from PayPal....which can take as little as 24 hours! :hammer:

With eBay's new feedback policy, buyer's can leave negative or neutral feedback without fear of a retaliatory negative. Seller's can only leave positive feedback (or no feedback). This policy allows a buyer to give an honest opinion of the trasaction without negative consequences. If the seller refuses to answer emails or rectify a disputable situation, then by all means alert the community.

Ok, I got a response back from this seller. I kindly asked him that if I find the coins in the picture do not match what is sent to me, can I have a refund as it seems he doesn't support a return policy.
He avoided the question entirely, and I don't mind in the least sharing this info with the entire community. I highly suggest everyone stay away from this seller, and I anxiously look forward to the decision of the paypal dispute.

    Heres his response...
Quote: One bad apple who wanted to return another roll instead of the roll that I sent. I accurately describe all auctions and photos should show the coins in each auction. If additional info is needed or other photos , let me know.
As you can easily see in my profile, I have had only 2 people who have given bad reports out of nearly 200. Many good reports there. Unquote

Wow, the pic on the auction that I gave you the link on is coin for coin the same photo as the one on the auction I won. By the sellers remarks I feel obligated to inform the community and leave this guy neg feedback. I'll let you know about the paypal dispute once I get it resolved.

If I understand the rules properly, use of "stock photos" is perfectly OK provided that the auction clearly says something to alert you that you may not be looking at the merchandise (the rule applies to everything, not just coins) you will receive.

Occasionally ebay will do something about it when there are violations of its rules, but it certainly should be reported to them.
