Stimulus Checks: What are you doing with yours?

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by QuintupleSovereign, Jan 1, 2021.

?

What are you doing with your stimulus check?

  1. Stashing it in my near zero-interest bank account

  2. Putting it straight into the stock market

  3. Paying off debt

  4. Stimulating the economy by spending it all

  5. Donating it to someone who needs it more than me

  6. Buying gold/bitcoin to head off possible inflation

  7. Grrrr! I didn't qualify because my income was too high!

  8. Paying regular bills/expenses

  9. Other

Now that checks are starting to be direct deposited, courtesy of the IRS, what are y'all planning on doing with yours?

Since my wife retired this year we were planning on doing some traveling. After Covid hit we put our plans on hold so I'll probably just put in the bank until all of this stuff is over.

Suggestion to the poll...Add "I don't qualify". Some out there like me make to much based on joint filing. SMH. You guys enjoy your free spending. Lol

Yes, "don't qualify" should be an option.
I qualify now that I am retired.
    Got ours overnight.

Seems like there are worse problems to have, doesn't it?

Funny story. My mom received hers. It puts her in violation of the Medicaid rules.

I'm guessing there are quite a few folks who are putting it toward more than one of those options.

We try to find ways to help folks who've been hit harder than we have, whether it's paying higher prices to buy local, leaving much larger tips for takeout meals, buying music/lessons from local artists, or outright donations.

My wife and I are doing the same, we've been fortunate enough to stay working the whole time, and it seems like there's less opportunity to piss it away like before the pandemic, so we're spending local and trying to help others that are struggling. We're still spending less, in total, than before, though.

I get direct deposit, so I'll have to check with my bank.

I didn't know that these Covid Federal aid funds could be used to count against Medicaid eligibility. They cannot be used as part of adjusted income calculations for Medicare Part B premium assessment.
