I haven't posted any MDs lately so my son started cherrypicking. He picked this one this evening and showed it to me. I said it was probably post mint but I don't see a gouge or a reason why the "0" would be shifted/ pushed up. As always I appreciate any input.

This could be caused by a Die Chip, but I'm not 100% sure.

It's interessant because can be a 1970 or a 1971. Let see what the experts said.

In my oppinion this is a 1970 that has old damage to the date. The zero was almost scraped off and there was also a mark put on the 9. The damage has since been worn and toned over. Just my oppinion.

    Simple post mint hit,

Simple post mint hit is all.
Remember you have to understand the minting process so you can rule out anything done at the mint that would cause such a thing. That's the first rule of errors and varieities.
It is possible it happened as the coin was ejected but I do not think so - if it was it would not be as isolated as it appears to be - we see too many of these.

I would say it's a 70 date with greased filled area near the 0 and the raised image is possibly a die gouge. You could see the zero has a wider look to it and sometimes the elements look like that when grease is struck thru on the design elements.the area near the date looks like a grease filled area in general

I don't think it is a die gouge. A die is the reverse image of a coin. The numbers and letters are recessed into the die and the field around the numbers and letters are higher. A die gouge wouldn't be down inside a number on a die without also gouging the field around hte number.

I would agree with post mint as well.

Post mint damage, probably from a counting or rolling machine. They have a tendency to wipe that area off.

Something pushed the material in, like a circular wave. But what? about that other mark. Seem like a partial D.

I agree %100, not grease, not a die gouge... just damage.
