I got this '09 Native American $1 the other day. Like the Sac and the Prez Dollars it is very low relief and not very attractive.

The font on the back is unattractive and the image depicted doesn't inspire me.

i picked up two rolls from my bank...switch to a new face...worst comes to worst i can use it...but most likely ill be able to make at least a few bucks in the future...i agree with most said here...but i do like the font on the back for some reason

I have 250 coming from the mint. People around here will be sick of 'em soon enough!

I think the Jurassic Park style font on the back is kind of cute. I got one of them for $1, exactly what it's worth, so I'm happy with my purchase.

Not an especially inspiring design, but at least they're trying. But if the Mint think this design will get the dollar coins circulating, they're kidding themselves.

Well put. I think the mint is under the impression that all people want is change. That is part of the reason the state quarters took off so well. Now it's overkill with most of the rather uninspiring designs.

I love the dollar coins...having them in the car for tolls, and what i may run into is so much easier than stashing a bunch of singles in the glovebox...

there just needs to be more incentive to use them...more machines excepting them, or new thing's designed for the dollar coins

I quite agree. It's so much easier to pull a few dollar coins out of your front pocket than it is fumbling with the wallet. Especially if you're sitting on the wallet. :D

I love to use dollar coins. (But I did live in Italy for 2 years and used the $1 and $2 coins all of the time.) I think the US just has to get rid of the dollar bill!!

I go to the post office all the time and buy 2 stamps with a $20 bill and get 19 dollar coins in change. Still get SBA all of the time!!

That was supposed to be a joke! There are about 50 leaves on that thing, but I imagine someone, somewhere, is going to be studying them intently....

That was also supposed to be a joke...:) But I did check all of the leaves just in case.

What do you mean that it doesn't "inspire" you?

    Inspire you to do what?

Become an advocate for humane treatment for the native american tribes living on reservations today? Work for the treatment of alcoholism and spousal abuse that are higher than the national average on reservations. Work towards providing clean water and utilities to those less fortunate than yourself?

    It's a coin.

I have to agree. It is ignorant to refuse them in commerce. I recently got an email saying to refuse the Presidential dollars as change because it Doesn't have "In God we trust" on them. Equally as ignorant and the 2009's were changed because people weren't smart enough to look a little closer.
