I took a shot tonight. Any opinions or comments welcome. Regardless, I think that the coin is rather pretty.
WOW! That's a fantasic 23S, I can't believe the die state and of course the wood is a bonus IMO. Wheats are well formed for a 23S. Cheek, eye-brow and forehead hits are the only things that would hurt the grade. PCGS slab? I'd say MS-63 but the TPG's can be harsh on the woodies....depends on their mood. LOL
Looks like I have a new wallpaper for my desktop... Awesome coin RLM! WOW. I say.... TPG said MS 62 and I'll say MS 63, The nicks on the Cheek and eyebrow keep it from 64 IMO. Very nice man!
Yes, I got it last night along with a 21-S and 20-S. The listing said that it was (AU as were the other 2). The slab number begins 2548.91/xxxxxxxx. i.e. 91 means it has questionable color, i am nearly sure. I liked the coin so much, I bought it anyway.
Here are my pics of what I got. All were listed as AU and all slabbed as "genuine". I got them mostly for the 23-S. I thought and still think it is unc. I am not sure if the color has been messed with or not. However, I think the coins is worth what I paid for the lot.
Here are what I got with the 23-S. The 20-S has been lacquered or oiled (I can't tell for sure through the slab) and I suspect it is AU, but it is close to unc. The 21-S is AU and has been dipped. It is actually a descent looking coin. My pics do not show it well, but the 21-S is nearly full red. Not sure just what I will do with the 23-S and 21-S, but I am pretty sure I will break out the 20-S and see what I can do to un-oil/lacquer it.
