Hello, I'm new here and hopefully have picked the appropriate forum to ask questions about the things I am finding while going through years of spare change sitting in jars. The information overload has me feeling like a dog chasing it's own tail and hoping anyone with far more expertise than me can give me an idea of what I am finding. Thank you in advance!!

Welcome to CT...I would report the first two to the police as a case of coin abuse :) but not sure what we are supposed to see on the third one

3rd one looks as though it was plated after it left the mint.

    Yes I also thought plated.
Damaged, damaged, plated (which is also damage.)

That's probably glue on the 1986 Jefferson. The heavily damaged nickel got stuck in a washer or dryer and wore away heavy on the reverse design.

Tip on the coin jar - don't be in a hurry to cash that in as you will probably pick up a number of suggestions/tips that could lead to a discovery for you. I've run through piles of change...2 or 3 times with new knowledge gained from your fellow enthusiasts. You'll love having the change to check.

It has been fun to look through them and have actually looked at some of them a few times, especially after learning something new. As mentioned before, there is so much information and it can be very overwhelming. I keep finding things and try to limit what I bring to the forum because I don't want to annoy anyone. I certainly appreciate the response so far!

Hi Tammy. I don't think you will annoy any one by asking the questions you are asking. If you have a coin question then ask away. That's what I do because I want to know, and the question will get answered here on this fabulous coin blog. I only found it a couple years ago myself and it is chock full of info. Happy hunting to you and good luck ! !
