So, after looking at many coins, I've been having difficulty finding a nicely toned AU seated quarter that speaks to me. I finally came across this one, and decided I really really liked it. It was graded AU-55 by PCGS, and has beautiful toning. However, there is some rub on the obverse in the central portion of the coin. This may be from an old cleaning, though there is still some luster and toning in that area. I took this possibility into account, though obviously PCGS considered it acceptable. All of the irridecent areas on the obverse are brilliantly lusterous; and the reverse has nearly full luster as well.
Terrific detail, particularly in the eagle's plumage. Sharp strike. I'll bet a silver dollar the color is even better - much better - in hand.
Great coin Johnny. Thats probably the nicest seated quarter Ive seen. Actually my wife who has been initiated into coins just walked by the computer when I was looking at it and said "Really nice coin, I like the color." So thats two opinions for the price of one.
thanks! The color is especially nice because of the luster that is present with the color. It gives a nice cartwheel irridescence show when rotated in the light. The challenge will be finding other seated quarters to match it for my dansco type set.
That is a very attractive coin and I don't usually say that about Seated Liberty coins. Congratulations on a very nice pick up.
I agree - that a super nice Seated Quarter for an AU. Great details, especially the reverse. And the toning ain't bad either. Congrats!
