Bad customer service, plain and simple. On another note....no-one needs to be clarivoyant to know that these things are a piece of crap, and will never go up in value. With a little research one knows that it is illegal to deface government issued coins, but putting a sticker on it is not considered defacing. Who-ever buys one of these, probably bought one of those Twin Tower coins, made from recovered silver from ground zero. Come on, you've seen them, the ones that will only be sold to collectors only, in which the building flip up? I can tell the relationship between bad marketing, and bad product, its a no brainer. Obama dinner plates? OMG. Does it have the presidential seal on it as well? You want to buy coins you can trust its integrity? Buy from your countrys authorized mint only.
Funny you say that, because the Franklin Mint has regularly produced legitimate sets for foreign countries (who's names escape me at the moment) in the past. I'm sure they threw in a few collector plates as a bonus. Who does all that Liberia stuff? Is that the Franklin Mint?
THANKS FOR POSTING THIS. I knew they were just garbage but didn't know how bad they were. And to think I was going to order thousands of them. Just kidding about that. I too wonder if Montel knows what's going on. I'm sure he got a huge bundle of money for that anyway.
Before you spend any money on any coin, educate yourself... this is so blatantly a violation of common sense to spend any money of this kind of thing that I just can't muster any sympathy for the people stupid enough to waste their money on this junk. Duh, what did you think you were getting? Takes all of a few seconds to figure out this is not an official US Mint product. Almost have to admire how they're carefully advertised in a way that is technically true but can mislead the uneducated. "These images are placed on official coins produced by the US Mint." Technically true... the half dollars and quarters are official US Mint products... that this company then puts cheap Obama stickers on. Are they genuine coins? Yes... they're genuine coins with stickers placed on them, so can't get them there. Will avoid making any political comments about how it's a bit premature to commemorate the historical legacy of a president who's only been in office a little more than a month, but people should realize the obvious fact that the Mint doesn't put out official authorized coins commemorating presidents still in office (well, to be fair, they did that once, with the 150th anniversary of independece dollar in 1926, that depicted Coolidge... but that's the exception not the rule, and it wasn't Coolidge that was being directly honored). And if they don't, I have no sympathy for those who get ripped off by rediculously obvious scams like this. Likely the only genuine and authorized US Mint product depicting Obama that will be released anytime soon will be his inaugaral medal.
I also think that PCGS should be ashamed of themselves!! I glad to see that NGC hasn't snooped to that level!!
What the heck are THOSE?! You're kidding right? Those aren't from PCGS? If they are, I'm sending all my PCGS graded coins to NGC for reholdering. They're just as bad as Montel...
Just go to eBay and type in PCGS and Obama, there is tons of these on eBay!! There are 2 main sellers, selling this junk and I sent them the following message!! Hello, I have bought lots of coins from you and decided that I will never buy from you again!! I believe that you and pcgs should be ashamed of ourselves for selling this garbage. You are ripping people off with this obama crap!! Is there a limit to what PCGS or you will take from numismatics to apply to their bottom line? Thanks, Jaime P.S. Please block me I don't want to bid on your stuff by accident!!
I've watched this story a few times now and they deserved to get ripped off IMHO. They "know a lot about Barack Obama collectibles". Well, obviously not much. They wanted to make money and instead got ripped off by not doing their homework. US Mint? Seems to me the reporters that called the "company" did not mention US mint. Sorry but these folks got burned by their own greed and stupidity. I hate to see companies sell garbage like this but I strongly feel these people are more upset that they got burned instead of burning others.
Funny this topic is here. I'm downstairs and I'm called upstairs all frantic like.. "SHAWN SHAWN!!! Come here quick" At this point I'm thinking The house is on fire or there is something excruciatingly heavy they need me to lift So I run upstairs only to see These Barack Obama coins on the TV and they have the number jotted down just in case I didn't make it in time. haha. Needless to say I gave them the quick rundown on these coins...
