I was fortunate enough to get to 1988 20% off Center, Lincoln Memorial Cents. I know the photos are terrible but the coins are nice.
Nice! was this a Ebay Purchase? Just wondering as i have received a lot of offers lately for off center Lincoln Cents.
I'm curious as to where/how you acquired them. I've often wondered how these make it out of the mint and how are they discovered. There seem to be a lot of them, but I don't see posts of members finding them in roll searches, so where do they come from?
Many errors like O/C's, Cuds & Clashes make it out in the 5000-coin bags. In one $50 1980 (P) bag, I found 228 clashes and countless "dropped element" strikethroughs.
A number of these type of errors leavevthe mint in the 5000 coin large bags. The recent ones that I've posted this week and a few more I'll be posting all came from an auction that I think I was one of 3 error collectors. Hardly any bids and I got these very cheap.
Oh boy, I'm going to save up and get a 5000 coin bag. LOL I couldn't even get them to deliver it to my isolated location. It sure would burn the hours going through them though.
M M - don't waste your time buying one single Mint Sewn Bag, imo I've been telling folks who ask, over the past 50 years or so, "what are my odds of finding an off center cent (for example) in a Mint Sewn Bag?", that you can go thru 1,000 Mint Sewn Bags of any denomination, and not find a single decent error. However, in the 1,001st bag, you might find a few off centers. The odds are greatly against any one bag having any major errors. For the $10 or so it costs to buy an off center cent, you'd do better buying it than spending hours going thru a new bag to find one.
