I found this in a roll of Indians. The 2nd 8 looks like it has a 1 coming out of the top loop. Which snow variety is this????
Do you mean the first 8? 1888? It doesn't appear to have the rest of a "1" with the tip. It doesn't appear to be either a S-1 or a S-2. A lot of stuff in the numbers to make it a little difficult. Jim
On the 1888 the first 8 looks like it has a spur coming off it and the second 8 looks like it's repunched and the last one looks normal. :thumb: I was hoping it was a 1888/7 but it doesn't look like it is. Ribbit
Tell ya the truth, the #2 and #3 inline from Rick in my circle of friends would be Charmy HArker, (The Penny Lady), then, Brad ( Acanthite ). I am sure between this crowd the variety will be properly attributed. And I did not mean to leave anybody, sorry if I missed you. Add Jim and Mark to that list, thats 5 top folks who will come to a concensus, but we all agree, RS is the final word.
HA! I disagree. What you have there Tom is a Snaz #2 Misplaced digit! I'm sorry I can't be more useful.
They are a great bunch of small copper enthusiasts. I have done buisness with Charmy on quite a few occasions. Nice lady!
Yes - I need to get Rick Snows books also. I currently just use the cherry pickers guide and it has several mis-placed digit examples that this one does not match. Certainly looks like one. Nice find.
Here are my 1888/7 S2 and 1888/8 Went to the bank today and extracted my 2 1888 varieties. The 1888/7 S2 is raw, the 1888/8 is ANACs AU50, but just says RPD,no Snow #. 1888/8 RPD 1888/7 S2 It seems to have all diagnostics, including crack on reverse ( forgot to photo), but suspect until certified Jim
