My sister's neighbor took this photo of the sun rising and the moon setting this morning (Laguna Beach, CA). It hopefully shows the beginning of a new and beautiful year.

Must be trick photography. I don't understand how they can be doing that. The Sun coming up and the Moon going down, both in the same direction. But, it is a great photo.

Happy New Year to you also.

Looks like the sun setting and moon rising to me, but it's a beautiful picture and thank you for sharing!

And a very Happy New Year to you.
Great pic. Here in the Southernmost part of Spain it is a regular thing to have the Sun and the Moon in panoramic view at the same time.
    Stay safe and well

At first, that was what I thought but if you click on the information it shows it was one shot, taken with a iPhone 12 Pro at 6:31 am and format was High Efficiency Image File Format and shows the exact spot it was taken from. This guy takes great photos and my sister shares them with me.

I guess it is very possible with a panoramic view and looking mostly South and picking up the Sun in the SE and the Moon in the SW.

Inspector I think you're right - it's a southern panoramic shot, that makes sense!
