Can you guys help?

    This is a 1970D It appears that the lincoln memorial is showing through from back, or it is some kind of clash die. Not sure. Somepics show a"S" inthe middle of the field, and other show a"D" for some reason

    I see the S in the field wow that;s cool. I would think it;s a possible mispalced mint mark but not sure just a guess / I don't know if it;s a die clash because the coin is a d mm weird don;t know /I would wait for more opininos on this one

    That sure looks like an S it;s very distinct in the field

    The "S" has to be a coincidence in the metal because it does not match the shape of an S mintmark. The vertical bars are from a die clash.

    I agree, the die clash mark has post mint damage.

    That is a weird one!

    I suspect conder and rockdude are right... Wouldn't that be cool if it did turn out to be something tho?

    it certainly is an interesting case. I can't think of any reason that the Denver mint would create a SF mint mark.

    Here is the location of the dies that make the clash marks appear in the fields of the opposite dies near the strongest devices.
