It would be good to re-institute this, for sure! I like the clear name on your coin, and its historical significance representing the last of the Spanish Habsburgs.

Here's my latest medieval (late Byzantine counts, right??)

Ok, call me dumb but here goes....What constitutes "Medieval"? I've been looking for a few days and have read several different date ranges.
I trust my fellow CTers more than the random google searches I've been doing. Please school me.

There is no 100% consensus but I go with the Medieval Era ending in 1485, a popular cut off time that precedes Columbus by just a few years. In terms of when it started, scholars often refer to the fall of Rome in 476 as the start of the "Middle Ages" or Medieval Era: https://www.history.com/topics/middle-ages/middle-ages.

The coin from the OP, while it is cool, is post-Renaissance by nearly 50 years and is a good two centuries removed from being Medieval. It is rather out of place with the theme of the thread considering it was minted in 1694; many would argue that it is in fact modern.

My focus has been mainly Pre-Augustus. I am not as enamored with coins of the Roman Principate and onwards. I find anything after a dating of BCE is "Modern" to me. :D

My dad did a lot of fossil hunting in Wyoming. I have quite a few of those little fish skeletons "floating" around in my basement somewhere.

You just wanted to post that coin due to the "69" in "1694".
Using a date to subliminally make us think... thoughts!
    I would never?

That is exactly how we got several of these. Went out in WY and broke them out from the rock.

I used to have one that was couple feet square. Several fish fossils. Hung it on the wall, and called it a "self-contained, no mess Aquarium". Gave it to one of my daughters...

I have a 125 gallon fresh water aquarium that has been up and running since 2012. I don’t do anything besides top off some water every month or so. Thrives on neglect. So far, no mess :p

LOL, I've had several aquariums, but I had 3 Piranha's growing up (when it was legal to have them). They were pretty fun. 2 were around 9" long, the 3rd was about 6" long. FUN to feed them hamburger, and other pieces of meat. Trying to clean the tank could be a bit of a challenge, as they would flop, jump, and LUNGE.

Talk about being MEDIEVAL!!! Fun fish!
