Just saw this, the 2021 quarter is set to have a reverse depiction of General Washington crossing the Delaware. I think the design is very nice, at least a lot nicer than some of the commemoratives the mint has put out in recent years. My only recommendation is to replace the words "crossing the Delaware" to a sun and rays. This would improve eye appeal and make it seem less like a commemorative (and more like a business strike). What do yall think? Is this the start of something good? Would like to hear your opinions on the design Also the fact that it has "BS" in the bottom left is hilarious.
That sword looks pretty sad. Just watched an episode of "forged in fire" where the final two blacksmith's had to make this sword. Fuller on both sides with a gentle curve along the length of the blade. An S guard and a partly in green handle that curves in the opposite direction. That tip looks like it was not hardened properly and and Jay Nielson wacked into a animal horn that bent it in an unnatural direction. Doug Marcaida would say "this sword will not cut". Here is an image of it.
I just wish they would get rid of the computer designed crap. Why on Earth would they have used an italicized font for E PLURIBUS UNUM? Italics on arched text on a coin. Any classic artist who previously designed coins would shake their heads. I also hope the spaghetti hair Washington is gone. Please bring back old Washington bust. Rant over...
Yes. Somewhere in the design and approval process, there was someone who has spent hundreds of hours in PowerPoint, and therefore knows much more about design and layout than the actual artist.
Unfortunately Washington crossed the Delaware on Christmas night to catch the Brits and Hessian mercenaries off guard...so sun and rays would not be present...sorry maybe moon and stars? Edit: 244 years to the minute of this post...
I think this design is OK. Do I like it? Sure. Do I love it? Probably not. Could be a lot worse. I think this one works.
