I just bought a 2009-P Sac dollar on ebay for $1.99 FREE SHIPPING. He has to pay ebay & paypal fees, and mail it. How does he make any money?

is he a new(er) member? the only explanation i can think of is that he is trying to increase his positive feedbacks.

If he got the Sacagaweas through the direct ship program the Mint does, and only paid face value for them... and sends them normal first class mail, he could just barely make a profit on each one, like in the neigborhood of a few cents. He does that in high enough volume, I can see how he'd be able to make money doing it, but even in huge volume it would barely be worth it.

He may very well be doing this not so much to turn a significant profit but to get enough feedback to establish himself as a seller. Everyone has to start out somewhere, and it's hard to be a seller with zero feedback that nobody wants to bet on.

Let do the math on this one!! Using the $1.99 Buy-It-Now!!
    Ebay Start Fee......$0.35
    Ebay End Fee........$0.24
    Paypal Fee............$0.36 2.9% + 0.30
    Total Fees............$0.95

Plus shipping and the cost of the 2x2
This guy is really losing money here!!

With a $1.99 Buy-It-Now it would cost $0.35, you must be special.

Well even if he didn't have to pay a start fee he is still losing money.

    Maybe he is building feedback.

Is he a Power Seller? I understand they have lower fees?

In any case, the only rational explanation is what others have said - building up feedback.

Of course, the next obvious question is: Did you receive the coin???? :)

If you buy $250 worth and shipping is free how are you losing anything.
You can search thru and find the best one and then just spend the rest!!

Cool deal... I got a shipment of the new Sac's and while I've only opened one roll, I think they're errors! The rims are all very weakly stamped...

Selling one on ebay to try and gain feedback, and save money to send one to PCGS to have it graded! have an image in the another thread...

Or just use your 3% cash back credit card, buy 500, search, deposit, bank 15 bucks from the credit card company.

There are entire sites on the Internet devoted to this pursuit.
