My pick of all those great coins will be #2 because it is so old and yet the definition is still pretty good.
I used to have some coins that were BCE but no more and I have been meaning to get some just lately.
May 2021 be a great one for all Coin Talk members.

Thanks again, Rob! Man, it's a difficult choice. I cannot tell y'all how long I've sat here thinking about so many of those fantastic coins. Before I spend any more time thinking which I like the best, I'm going with the . . . .

    26. Italy: nickel 50-centesimi of Victor Emmanuel III, 1925-R, smooth edge variety

Why? Number one, I do not have that type. Number two, centesimi from Italy make me consider what things would be like if the US had only dollars today - no cents. Or if the Euro states had only euros and no euro cents. I clearly recall thinking and wondering as a kid (about 12 or 13, which was around 1983) why the Italians had whole lire/lira, but no cents. The answer to my question was more than my grandfather (German speaking) could explain to me (first tongue - English) with my childish understanding of German. All that to say - an Italian centesimi brings up fond memories.

EDIT - cannot do math, and as Rob and I talked about previously . . . 12 or 13 would put it around 1978 or 1979. Sheesh! Where does the time go?

Thank you for the detailed reply. I feel I’m getting more out of this particular giveaway, in the sense that I enjoy hearing what people find interesting and/or appealing about certain coins. I should do this (ask that question) more often.

PS- I’m also glad to see somebody else other than just me liking that coin. For me, it was that classical throwback to Ancient Rome on the reverse. I think it’s a really handsome design.

My choice #28. New here and starting to get more into all this. Had a nice collection when I was younger but between moving lost it all. I got back into it over the wheat pennies so I think it be a good choice for me to get a much better collection up. Now that I am older and know how to keep it up.

Well, I didn't think I would play, since the prize isn't 10 pounds of truly unsearched wheat pennies, but I have kind of fallen in love with #3. The colors are beautiful, and the profile is hauntingly clear. Thanks for doing this.

Ain't how it works, Cheech. You need to make a choice and say what you like about it. That's pretty much the one and only rule here, this time.

PS- congrats on the W-mint quarter find!

#17 is a cent, all right.

But... from your birth year, huh?

Wow, how’s it feel to be 168 years old?

Somehow I thought you were a teensy bit younger. ;):hilarious:

Should the Fates smile on me, in a non-cynical way, to begin 2021, I would ask coin #21 as my boon. Seems fitting.

Seein's how it's your very first post here and Christmas and all, let's tempt the Fates a little more and give you an extra chance in the drawing. If this post (#93) is chosen by the random number generator, you'll win that coin, same as you would if it landed on your post (#92).

    Welcome to CT.

    Thanks for the opportunity.

I'll go with Number 25. Mexico: silver peso, 1923-M

Just a great coin with a strong, attractive design.

Entry post. I'll take #18. Seated coins are my favorite U.S. design. I actually found a seated half dollar coin roll hunting years ago!

No.36 would be my choice, broadstruck but appears to be a nice clean coin...have done a lot of coin roll searching..have yet to find anything
like this...receiving this would encourage me to delve deeper into the
hobby....might find something I could send to you!!!

No we didn't. Your random number generator operator got busy cleaning the house and forgot. Sorry. I'll get on that tonight.

Entry post: #3. Commodus has a bad wrap. The empire was on good footing when he was murdered. It just makes it easier for the next guy in line when you vilify the leader before you. As well, no way did the guy actually think he was Herakles. He just wanted to put on a show of masculinity and chose the H-bomb as he was one of the toughest of the gods. No way do you rule the empire for as long as he did being that nuts!

    23. United States: silver Barber half dollar, 1899-O

Thanks to lordmarcovan for hosting yet another giveaway. I really enjoyed looking at all the possible prizes, and found quite a few I really liked. I wanted to wait until after Christmas to enter since I had hoped that Santa might put a special coin in my stocking, While I did get some nice things from Santa, it was my wife and kids who got me some truly wonderful coins. Taking those gifts into consideration, I would choose the Barber half dollar for two main reasons -- I currently don't have a Barber half, and I don't have a New Orleans minted coin either. It is a twofer!
