can someone tell me what the most current greysheet price is for a 1910 2.50 indian head in between 60 to ms62? Sold one on ebay for 300 and the guy wants some money back. Any help would be appreciated

    Grey Sheet is

    MS-60 $245/$260
    MS-62 $495/$535

That's a pretty good jump between grades. And $2 1/2 Indians are very, very difficult to grade. It might be worth sending to NGC or PCGS if the coin is raw.

Can't quote the greysheet for you. But I just bought a slabbed NGC AU-58.
The year is 1912 and I paid $282. So no I wouldn't give money back.
I would offer to take the coin back and refund his money less shipping.
That may just make him decide he wants it for what he paid.

yes its very difficult, this guy says he is very disappointed, that the coin is much worse in hand than the pic. shows. I'm a novice so I'm not sure either. the coin was a gift so long ago. don't know what was paid. Thanks for your help

The price paid long ago is irrelevant. It's the value today that counts. The coin may have been purchased for $150 when gold was $250 or maybe someone paid $500 for it at the height of the coin market in 1991 but what does that matter?

Is the coin as bad as the buyer says? If you think it is better than he makes out why not recommend he have it graded by one of the top TPGs? If it grades out he's bought himself a coin. If not you accept the coin back and refund his purchase price plus the grading fee.

under these circumstances I wouldn't negotiate anything. Refund his money or he can keep it. The choice is his. NEVER open up negotiations.

Spock is 100% correct. The guy wants to cherry pick you to death and failing to do so is twisting your arm. refund his money in full if he wishes and get the coin slabbed.

I would not give him fifty bucks. The best thing to do is get the coin back in your possession. Refund him his purchase price minus your costs.

ice Just happy to be here

He bought the coin and it sounds like he wants to get a better deal. If he didn't think it was worth 300 he shouldn't bid. Get the coin back and refund his money. I am willing to be he'll change his mind and keep the coin. Ice

What is your return policy (as stated in the auction) ? Honor that. You have no other obligation.

It's impossible to grade the coin from the photo, but it seems like a decent coin. I think it's wrong to ask you to rebate some of the money. Buyer should either keep the coin or full refund.

Man, that coin looks pretty nice from the pics.

I think a deal is a deal, live with it. Ebay aint walmart.

Of course depends on what you stated for return policy. But its all or nothing, thats ridiculous.

Thanks again all, I decided that although i offered no returns, that the pictures didn't show some flaws, and I might be upset with the coin as compaired to the pics, if the rolls were reversed,(with myself for buying raw coins off ebay) I gave back 10$ to try and remember the feeling when the coin I bought wasn't quite what i "saw" in the pics, It settled the transaction without a negative. I wouldn't be selling my coins I love if it wasn't a necessity, as i fell at work and got busted up, among other problems. Thanks for all the replys
